Dynamical evolution of the inner asteroid belt

چکیده
A determination of the dynamical evolution asteroid belt is difficult because has evolved since time formation through mechanisms that include: (1) catastrophic collisions, (2) rotational disruption, (3) chaotic orbital and (4) driven by Yarkovsky radiation forces. The timescales these loss are uncertain there a need for more observational constraints. In inner main belt, mean size non-family asteroids increases with increasing inclination. Here, we use observation to show all originate from either known families or ghost families, is, old dispersed elements. We estimate average age in factor 1/3 less than timescale. However, this timescale long-term must allow collisional stochastic changes their spin directions. By applying constraints on size-frequency distribution Vesta family, family greater 1.3 $Gyr$ could be comparable solar system. estimating number calculate root sources meteorites near-Earth about 20.

The Dynamical Evolution of the Asteroid Belt
The asteroid belt helps us in reconstructing the origin and the evolution of the solar system, probably better than the planets themselves. This is because the asteroid belt provides several key constraints that can be used to effectively guide the development, calibration, and validation of evolutionary models. Compared to other small-body populations, such as the Kuiper belt or Oort cloud, th...
متن کاملDynamical erosion of the asteroid belt and implications for large impacts in the inner solar system
The cumulative effects of weak resonant and secular perturbations by the major planets produce chaotic behavior of asteroids on long timescales. Dynamical chaos is the dominant loss mechanism for asteroids with diameters D & 10 km in the current asteroid belt. In a numerical analysis of the long term evolution of test particles in the main asteroid belt region, we find that the dynamical loss h...
متن کاملNon-gravitational perturbations and evolution of the asteroid main belt
Gravity is the most important force to affect the motion of bodies in the Solar system. At small sizes, however, additional forces must be taken into account to explain fine details of their translational and rotational motion, as well as parameters of their populations. This is because the strength of the non-gravitational perturbations typically increases as 1/D toward small sizes D. The prin...
متن کاملDiffusion in the asteroid belt
In the beginning we review briefly the evolution of the ideas on the motion of the bodies in our solar system, from Newton’s clockwork Universe to the presently accepted ubiquity of chaotic transport in the asteroid belt. Then we discuss the result of chaotic motion, which is transport in phase space, and we introduce the concept of diffusion of an asteroid in action space. We proceed by review...
متن کاملThe empty primordial asteroid belt
The asteroid belt contains less than a thousandth of Earth's mass and is radially segregated, with S-types dominating the inner belt and C-types the outer belt. It is generally assumed that the belt formed with far more mass and was later strongly depleted. We show that the present-day asteroid belt is consistent with having formed empty, without any planetesimals between Mars and Jupiter's pre...
